Whether we like it or not, immigration is a big part of the "american" equation. It has always been. Our nature as human beings is to be afraid of change, afraid of the unknown. Many of the "Illegal" immigrants that are already in the US are good workers, tax payers and contributors that deserve the chance to stay here and continue contributing to the society. I do agree however that certain criteria must be met (no criminal background, proof of previos tax payments, etc.). We have to find a reasonable way to "fix" the broken system and getting everyone out is not the answer. Most of these good immigrants are willing and eager to embrace this culture, still keeping their own heritage. This should not be a threat to the traditional "american culture". It will evolve, as everything should. We just have to stop complaining and give insight to real solutions which are attainable. |
